In September, whilst working with Bigtopmania, I was lucky enough to be involved in a corporate circus day in the very beautiful grounds of Bovey Castle. If you're ever down in Devon I would urge you to stop in for a scrumptious lunch or even consider it as a wedding venue. Its really beautiful.
I've only just recieved these beautiful photos, so I thought I would update the blog post and reblog it. The amazing photos come courtesy of James at Red Chilli Photography
Bigtopmania were booked to entertain the managers of a large highstreet bank. We provided roaming circus entertainers to build excitement as the guests arrived. We provided a stiltwalker to lead a parade down to the main area for the entertainment. In this space they had hired a circus tent from us. Which looked great amongst the lush gardens of Bovey.
The unique benefit to the client with this type of event is that they can book a tailor made circus show to suit their budget and audience. On this occasion, all the multi skilled circus performers used their various different skills to entertain and amaze the audience.
I was booked as a circus performer to use my unicycling skills to entertain the guests.
Highlights of the circus show can be seen in the video below which illustrates nicely what a successful day we had.
My personal highlight was one of the directors being picked to be the knife throwing volunteer and on a personal level, my unicycling circus act went down really well with a jumping over 2 people finish as seen in the vid!
No one was allowed to leave the tent until they had spun a plate. Outside the tent we provided circus skills with juggling tuition and hula hoop demos. There was a very exciting opportunity to try knife throwing and lots of chances to laugh at each other trying unicycling and crazy bikes. Atmospheric bubbles as well ongoing tightrope attempts completed a large rosta of have a go activities. As well as popcorn and champagne which was supplied by Bovey and dished out by friendly staff in Clown wigs.
My main role outside in terms of circus entertainment was to guide people learning to unicycle and even give them a go on my Ninebot which I am promoting on behalf of SpeedyFeet.uk.
It was then time for dinner and some awards and speeches, then one final surprise because we were also hired to perform a fire show finale before their firework display.
What a fantastic day, thanks for having us Bovey. We look forward to the next time.
